He doesn't need a history lesson, because of that. Part of him would be hopeful that with new technology, the world would easily accept its access, the abilities that they provide; the new challenges, the new chances they could offer. It's all very rose tinted and he's aware of it.
Another part of him isn't surprised at all that society somehow made it difficult. Debatable, even. He wouldn't be surprised there would be extremists regarding that very same issue, too. It's part of human nature.
