We weren't there for too long.
( they were brought in at the tail end of the battle though they still had been given orders, as well as working through all of the confusion )
Our task had been to ensure that history remained unchanged.
( that the battle had proceeded as written. angela, as she had done in all missions, had worked as their medic )
