[This is the part where Jack realizes he isn't sure whether or not there is paper nearby. It also occurs to him that unless he gives himself a particularly violent paper cut, it's going to be difficult to see the wound actually healing. The paper cut was kind of a joke, anyway--it's much easier to pull a knife out of his belt and and nick himself without much fanfare.
