(movie poached from the library, ingredients poached from the mess hall, and a couple of hours between lights out and training at 0600. time enough for a movie and snacks.
he's a bit apprehensive with no movie experience under his belt and a tendency to fidget, but he's leaving his capsule in the dead hours of the "night" to seek midnighter out all the same. the plan is to meet him in the library and does, depositing the pelmeni onto a low coffee table surrounded by a pod of comfortable sofas — that he seems determined to bodily shove against the wall as crows look on flatly. having something at his back will make him far more likely to sit still, vantage of the terminals and shelving broad.
stands back to admire his own handiwork, then looks to m for approval.)
This'll do for now. You managed to get the tablet?

almost seems a bit smug. he's going to see the best movie ever, after all. how many people can say they've done that?)
This is a tolerable night... I can't complain about this one. (reaches up to rub at his chin in thought.) Guy's gone and done it now, getting his handprints all over that gun. Is he really going to go and kill Bruno's father? What happens in the end?
(uh, spoilers?)
no subject
[But he's grinning. Midnighter's having fun too, as much as he wouldn't admit it so readily. He'd happily do this again, though. It'll be something to look forward to in the trenches.]
What d'you think'll happen?
no subject
(nods after a long moment of critical thinking.)
They'll all die.
(clearly not that critical.)
no subject
[Obviously sarcastic,] Yep. How'd you know.
no subject
(closes his eyes... he is wise, this is an intelligent response...)
If anyone else dies, it'll be Barbara. She knows too much. Bruno should kill her straight away, lest he be caught.
no subject
Who're you even rooting for, here?
no subject
I want Barbara to win. She's the most sensible one in this foolish situation.
no subject
[Hearing Hei's hot takes is quickly turning into the best part of this film.]
What d'you mean by 'winning', here?
no subject
(looking over at him with a very determined kind of seriousness, far too keen to make this into a competition.)
You can't play, you've seen the movie before. Barbara will survive and I'll win as well.
no subject
[He's careful to keep his voice nonjudgmental, hoping he keeps the amusement out of it as well.]
It's just betting against the house. What d'you want if you win?
no subject
(eyebrow raising with a twitch of a smirk.)
You make me food, the next time. How does that sound?
no subject
That would not be a win for you, believe me.
no subject
(yeah, he's still a shit-head.)
I've eaten worse things. Like soup made out of weeds someone picked from the ground. Just picked whatever green thing she could find. It was awful.
no subject
[He shakes his head, a smile creeping back over his features.]
And what if I win?
no subject
(porque no los dos???)
It's your choice, if you win. I chose what I wanted to see from you. What side are you even betting for?
no subject
[Betting, odds, competitions, that always made perfect sense to him.]
So pick something fitting.
no subject
(right. spares this some serious thought.)
I have to be nice for a whole hour.
(A WHOLE HOUR)
no subject
[What?]
When am I not nice?
no subject
(repeats himself, looking over with a flat expression.)
no subject
You're plenty nice. You're fine. [If you're a bird, I'm a bird!]
no subject
...
Your standards are all fucked up.
no subject
You're as kind as you need to be. I dunno, doesn't strike me as mean. Maybe everybody you deal with is just a whiner. Actually, that's probably it. [Noctis...]
no subject
... (well—)
There are a great many whiners, but this is my personality.
no subject
[Haaaa.]
I still don't think it's a big enough win for me. Not like I'm crying from your crushing insults.
