(hei realizes that he let this happen, that a large part of it was his fault for letting it go on as long as it did before dorian was rendered unconscious, but it doesn't stop his body from fearing the sight of him. his mind tells him it's fine, there's no logical reason for an attack to come. still, he's twisting away with a pained grunt and stressing his wounds to chance a drink of water.

thank god there's still some left at his bedside, almost choking on it with how thirstily he cleans the glass.

has to take a few seconds to pant uselessly, harsh breaths and a flop down sounding far better than this half-sit.)
