WHO? two useless twins. vex'ahlia ([personal profile] faenthras) & vax'ildan ([personal profile] adequately)
WHAT? dealing with vore related trauma, and being alive again??
WHEN? ??? BASE HAMMERSPACE TIME, aka the week after being revived.
ANYTHING ELSE? vore related trauma, gore, overly dependent twins, creepy black eyes??

[ Vax.

Pain erupts from her arm, white hot, sharp, dragging forth a cry from her lips. Broken, bloody, she reaches despite it, for the brother that lays motionless just out of reach. If she can, if she can just touch him, maybe, maybe. But it's too late, some part of Vex knows it, but she can't accept it. Tries to reach despite her broken arm, despite the blood pooling from head, the slickness of her hands, and the deep, oozing gash to the side. Hope remains, a tiny sliver, and defeat weighing heavy on her shoulders with the roaring cheer of the crowd.

But Vax isn't moving, he isn't moving─ ]

Vax!

[ He's to far, she can't reach him, no matter how hard she tries to dig at the dirt with the only hand left to her, she can't reach him. The crowd's roar gets louder and panic starts to claw at her throat, fingers digging into the dirt as she cries out for her brother again. Vax. Vax! Please, we have to move. Get up! Pain shoots through Vex's body again, trying to reach, vision starting to blur as the crowd roars louder and louder until...

The generals leap on him, all claws and teeth and hunger. Vex screams, eyes wide, bloody hand out stretched. She watches them tear into clothes and flesh, blood spraying across the dirt, across the generals. The smell of death floods of her nose, causing bile to rise in her throat, hot tears sting her eyes, as she reaches out for him, mindlessly clawing at the dirt stained red. It's over, it's over. All she has left is horror and misery, burning the sight of her brother being consumed into memory, before finally, finally, they come for her as well.

Percy... I'm sor─

The waking is familiar and not at the same time. Surprise comes first, followed quickly by panic and the seizing of her lungs. Instinct is quick to kick in, body moving of it's own accord to free her from the tube she woke up in. Pushing through, determined, until she tumbles out onto the floor, slick with the strange liquid. There is no time to think, however, before Vex doubles over, vomiting out something viscous and black. It takes a few more minutes of coughing up more of that liquid before she moves, absently grabbing something to cover herself up with before she starts to search.

Vax. It's all she cares about. She has to find her brother, has to make sure he is okay, that he is alive─

How are they alive, anyway? It's not magic, Vex knows how it feels to be revived by a divine magic. But if not that, how? How is she walking, breathing, searching for her brother when she saw him... ]

Brother!

[ A glimpse of familiar hair, pointed ears is all she needs to recognize him. Vex stumbles towards the pod, towards Vax, arms thrown around his neck as tears start to sting her eyes once more. Gods, he's live, thank the gods he's alive. ]

[ Shaking his head makes the dizziness worse, but Vax does it anyway. He can't tell if his sister is scared because of the idea that Percy would have followed them into the ring or over the idea that they've left him behind somehow. Either way, he wants to cut off that train of thought before it roots in Vex's mind. They barely know what's happening to them now. Percy has to be safe. Vax can't allow himself to even begin considering otherwise. ]

He wasn't with us.

[ He'd been in the stands. He'd been safe. Whatever Vax had prayed for in his last moments, he trusts Percy to know when crashing into a fight wouldn't serve anyone's best interests. Maybe that's an unflattering thing to expect of Percy, but so much of Vax's perception of him toes the line between admiration and insult. There's no changing that now. ]

Don't—

[ Don't what? Don't look? Vax knows from the expression on her face that he is a mirror of her down the disconcerting, inky black eyes. Unsurprising. He blinks a few times in self-conscious response to her scrutiny. ]

Vex, it's alright. It doesn't hu—

[ At which point Vax potentially ruins the effect by doubling over and vomiting. ]

[ He comes up coughing, Vex's hands two steadying points of contact against bare skin. In all his life, he hasn't felt weak like this. It's like being reborn. The things that hurt and ache aren't his eyes, and he doesn't know how to put it into words for her. ]

It doesn't.

[ And his vision isn't impaired. Small blessings. ]

Do yours?

[ Which is hardly the gentlest way of breaking that news. Vax is stumbling, hamstrung by her distress compounding his own. Surely his assurances that he's fine and alive will be enough to cut off Vex's panicked reaction? ]

[ His hands lift to her elbows, catching on gently so as not to dislodge her hands. Vax doesn't know how he'd bear to be away from her now. He doesn't want to tell Vex just how badly he's been rattled by their time in the ring, but he'd let darkness take him knowing she'd die. He can't help but feel he'd let her down. Being out of sight feels like a surefire way to invite disaster back a second time. ]

Okay. That's good, right?

[ If any of this could be really called good. Vax isn't totally sure that they can so easily put two gruesome deaths behind them, but without any immediate debilitating injury they can at least attempt to ignore the nastier, more visceral aspects of what happened.

Or Vax can. ]

Vex, I need to sit down.

[ Which is the most benign way he can tell her that he needs to sit down before he falls over. He feels lightheaded, but not in the same way he has after Keyleth or Pike healed him. It's something heavier and a little sickly, like there's some kind of drug weighing him down. ]

[ Laughing hurts a little, but Vax laughs anyway. It's shockingly good to see Vex's face crinkle in dismay as her voice takes on the admonishing tone he remembers from when they were small. He pinches her arm in lieu of dancing around her, unwilling to upset the delicate equilibrium his stomach seems to have reached.

Or to fall over. That's a distinct possibility too. ]

We've taken baths together, [ He reminds her, insufferable, before he forces himself to let go of her. All his teasing aside, he is cold. He wants to lie down somewhere warm and sleep until his head stops spinning and the weakness passes from his body.

That being said, it still takes Vax a few minutes to come up with a robe while Vex taps her foot, eyes firmly shut. He tugs it on then reaches over to tug a lock of Vex's hair while she isn't looking. ]

Alright. It's safe.

should we stick a bow on this too

[ It's always satisfying to slip Vex's grasp. Vax is shadow made flesh. He gets harder to catch every passing day.

But that hadn't been enough in the ring. Thinking of it twists something in his chest painfully. He tweaks Vex's hair again before hooking his arm through hers. Staying in the moment is more difficult than he expected. Flashes of their defeat flicker in his head. It takes effort to keep them at bay. ]

My room. We can rest there, and figure out the rest after.

[ Aka: get yelled at by Percy when they aren't fighting the urge to vomit and consumed by aches and pains. ]
